While staying in Bachelor Gulch we took the Beaver Creek Connect over to the village for some dining and shopping. Beaver Creek Connect is the app you can download to request a shuttle to take you around Beaver Creek and Bachelor Gulch. We first learned about this after skiing over to the Beaver Creek lifts and being too tired to ski back to Bachelor Gulch. Our friends have stayed in the Park Hyatt right in the center of the village and they loved it.

The skiing…

What I liked about Beaver Creek is that there are a lot of beginner runs and easy green runs. The ski school is there and the private beginner lessons start there. We took the Bachelor Gulch lift up and followed the signs to Beaver Creek. The runs on that route were listed as greens but some seemed a little steep for a green to me. Also, this route is across mountains so there are lots of sharp turns on the side of the mountain. So, if you are a novice skier then I would suggest to just take the shuttle over to the village and start your ski day there rather than try and ski from Bachelor Gulch to Beaver Creek. My favorite thing about Beaver Creek is that there are plenty of signs on the slopes. Even signs that say which way is the easiest way down that you can see from yards away. You literally cannot miss them!!

Beaver Creek Village

The village is such a cute area with restaurants and shops. We spent one afternoon buying souvenirs, browsing in art galleries, and shopping at a little home boutique shop.It was so fun and we got lots of goodies. There is an ice skating rink in the center with tables and fire pits around the side.It seemed like a great place to watch your kids ice skate and lounge after a day of skiing.

Places to eat…

We only had one dinner reservation this time around but there are plenty of places that came highly recommended. Some of the places we heard about from locals were Grouse Mountain Grill, Citrea and Hooked.

We ate at Hooked and it was a whole experience. On the shuttle we kept hearing about how good the margaritas were but when I saw the tiki drink menu I ordered the Mai Tai. At hooked they have a large menu that offers cooked food and sushi. They also have a whole fish experience. Naturally, me being the person who loves an experience, we went with this. The server brings out fish that are suitable for your party size and you pay by the pound. They describe each one and what the chef recommends for the cooked options. The fish you selected is taken back to the kitchen where it is then filleted and half is given to the sushi chef and the other half to the cooked preparation. The sushi is selected by the sushi chef to compliment the fish and the cooked preparation you can select. I have a few food allergies so I just told them to the server who made sure our preparations didn’t include my allergies. Everything was exceptional and we loved the presentation of it all. If you continue to read my posts you will learn that I’m all about a special tableside experience when dining, we call it dinner and a show.
